Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Why do
Patients Choose
Eyelid Surgery?

…..

The eyes are one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Loose skin, puffiness, or drooping eyelids can make you look tired, sad, or older than you feel. Eyelid surgery — also known as blepharoplasty — restores a more awake, refreshed appearance by removing or repositioning excess skin and fat around the eyes.

Common reasons patients choose eyelid surgery include:

What to Expect (Procedure Overview)

At Selarom, eyelid surgery is a precise, highly personalized procedure designed to rejuvenate your eyes without changing your natural expression. Whether you need an upper lift, lower correction, or both, we tailor the plan to your anatomy and goals.

Consultation & Planning
We start with a detailed consultation to examine your eye structure, skin laxity, and under-eye fat pads. Dr. Schmelzer will help determine whether upper, lower, or combined blepharoplasty will deliver your best result — and whether non-surgical options might help enhance it.

Surgery Day
Eyelid surgery is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia in our accredited surgical suite. Small, carefully placed incisions are made in the natural eyelid creases or just below the lash line. Excess skin is removed, fat is repositioned or removed, and the area is carefully sutured.

Recovery
Most patients return home the same day. Swelling, tightness, or mild bruising are common during the first week. Light activity resumes in 5–7 days, and most patients are fully recovered within 2–4 weeks. Makeup and contact lens use can usually resume after the first 10–14 days.

Your Safety, Always
We take your vision, anatomy, and safety seriously. Dr. Schmelzer brings a craniofacial-level understanding to delicate eye structures — ensuring results that look refreshed, not overdone.

Will eyelid surgery change the shape of my eyes?

No — when performed correctly, blepharoplasty enhances your natural eye shape without altering it. The goal is to look like you, just more rested.

Upper eyelid results typically last 7–10+ years. Lower eyelid correction is often permanent, though aging will continue naturally.

Incisions are placed within natural creases or inside the eyelid, making them very discreet once healed.

Absolutely. It’s often performed with brow lifts, facelifts, or non-surgical treatments like Botox® or Fractora for more complete facial rejuvenation.
